Rosalita Rules

Community Guidelines

Terms of Service

We are an inclusive community, abuse of any kind towards another community member will not be tolerated. This includes but is not limited to; racism, homophobia, transphobia and general bullying.

The Rosalita lore makes many adjustments to real world history, altering intentions of events such as the reason for the American Civil War and the existence of the Indian Removal Act. Failure to roleplay according to our lore will not be tolerated. To read our lore, please see the Rosalita Lore page.

Community Rules

You are required to be at least 18 years old to be eligible for a community whitelist.

Though all are welcome, Rosalita is an English speaking server. Whilst characters of different nationalities can speak in other languages, the primary language should be English. Any form of non-verbal characters must be discussed with staff first. If this applies to you, please make a ticket in our Discord to discuss further.

Immersion is key to the experience here at Rosalita and a high quality microphone is non-negotiable. Staff can reject your application based on your microphone quality in our voice recording section.

Erotic roleplay, suicide, self-harm, pregnancy/child roleplay, non-consensual/forced relationship roleplay and excessively graphic/disturbing themes are all not tolerated and will result in serious action.

Purposeful abuse of bugs, exploits or glitches is not tolerated. Third party programs such as menus, crosshairs or scripts are not tolerated. Abuse of bugs or use of third party programs will result in serious action with no opportunity for appeal.

Supernatural roleplay is not tolerated. Whilst characters can believe in such things, there will be no opportunity for supernatural roleplay.

Serial killer roleplay is prohibited unless discussed with staff.

Staff, Bans and Appeals

The Rosalita Staff Team is composed of community members who have put themselves forward to create, maintain and develop an enjoyable roleplay experience for you. The staff team will offer guidance and support both technically and for roleplay. The staff team will also issue disciplinary actions via our Rosalita Staff Bot.

The Rosalita Staff Team will handle player reports through our bot. Each report will be discussed internally and all decisions will be reviewed fairly and consistently. Decisions on outcomes and actions will be voted on to maintain that standard. The decisions will consider both the rules and the roleplay involved in every situation.

Staff involved in the reported scenario or incident will be removed from the discussion and voting, learning of their outcome just as our community members do. Staff who are connected to the reported party will also be treated in the same regard.

All actions taken against a reported party are final, though those who face a ban can appeal. In the event that a party is banned, they can appeal their ban once per month via our appeals section.

Staff are required to keep information from all tickets confidential unless otherwise stated by the maker of the ticket.

Staff are required to keep information from all bans confidential, though may address the community regarding awareness of a repeated issue, or informing of possible affliction caused by the banned party.

Discussing bans publicly in the community Discord can result in further action.

Server Rules

Character Rules

All characters on Rosalita are to be considered as 'fresh' characters. Rosalita has no affiliation with any other roleplay server, characters mentioning other 'states' are not permitted. Characters can previously know each other before being created here, however it should be written or spoken about in such a way that is believable and not relating to any other server.

An individual's characters should not know or be actively related to one another. Other community members can play your character's relations. Creating a new character related in any way to an older character to carry on that previous character's storylines is prohibited.

All characters must be at least 18 years of age.

Characters should be unique. Community members can create characters inspired by existing media or history but copying the name of or directly replicating characters is not tolerated.

Out of Character

You must stay in character at all times whilst playing on the server. There is no permitted method of communicating Out of Character (OOC) in game. Any OOC communication must occur outside of the server using the likes of Discord. The chat function in the server must only be used to communicate roleplay actions, such as /me.

Scenes

Scenes are a useful tool to add depth to an area via descriptions. Scenes can be used to leave evidence of crime, show signs of an altercation or leave clues.

Scenes cannot be used for anything other than describing the immediate area. Usage that isn't permitted includes but isn't limited to; property damage, directly communicating to characters, unperceivable details.

Value for Life

You must value the life of your character at all times. Characters that are under threat of violence must react to this realistically. Community members who repeatedly disregard this and portray a character incapable of fear or valuing their life will result in action.

Value of Life extends to other characters on the server. Causing the death of another is a serious law to break, that could end your own character's life via a life in prison or the death penalty. You are expected to acknowledge the weight of your actions against others as it could come back around to your character.

Low Quality Roleplay

Rosalita is an immersive roleplaying experience, composed of talented collaborators and a story driven development, thus we expect a high standard of roleplay from our community members.

Rosalita is set in 1899. All language, references, music, clothing choices, naming, behaviour and character aspirations must align with the time period. There will be no exceptions made for this, such as performing modern songs acoustically, loosely referencing modern media or using modern terms or slang.

The use of /me is important to display what your character is doing, how they look or how they react outside of what is possible mechanically. The use of /me is permitted when being used to describe obvious character motions, such as "/me Looks to her left", "/me Fixes his shirt." The use of /me is not permitted to convey information about your character that isn't physically possible to observe, such as "/me Thinks about coffee", "/me Has heart burn."

Clothing often makes or breaks your character's look and feel. Here at Rosalita we want characters to express themselves through their look but it must not take away from the setting. An example of this would be creating a hot pink outfit, wearing broken or heavily clipping clothing, wearing costume-like animal skins or furs etc. There are various resources out there to learn how to create a character that fits within the setting, some are even specific to Red Dead Redemption 2. Failure to create a believable looking character will result in action from the staff team.

Doing damage to other characters and allowing damage from other characters can be dangerous. Fists, knives, axes and guns are all deadly weapons and receiving damage must result in believable consequences for your character. Being stabbed or shot should result in significant injury, requiring medical attention and rest. While fist fighting is allowed and roleplay surrounding it is encouraged, repeatedly being knocked unconscious or repeated fighting in general shouldn't be taken lightly. Casual use or "play fighting" with the use of deadly weapons is not permitted.

Random Deathmatch

Random deathmatch (RDM) is the act of performing violent acts against other characters or NPCs without sufficient interaction beforehand. All violent acts must have reason and escalation to violence should be believable and fair, giving all involved an opportunity to participate in the roleplay associated.

Metagaming

Metagaming is the IC (in character) use of any knowledge learned outside of roleplaying your character. Information gained from sources such as Discord, live streams, screenshots or videos are not permitted to be used by your character. Similarly, information learned on one of your characters does not transfer to another of your characters without it being learned again through IC means.

Powergaming

Powergaming includes a variety of factors. These factors include unfair or unrealistic roleplay actions, abusing game mechanics and ignoring roleplay logic in an attempt to "win" or gain an advantage over others.

Rosalita is a platform for collaborative roleplay and attempting to control the stories of others through powergaming efforts will not be tolerated.

Rule Play

Immersive storytelling is our priority. Emphasising rules over roleplay to 'win' within the technicality of rules is considered low quality roleplay.

Whilst rulebreaks should always be reported, it's important to note that the Rosalita Staff team will always require roleplay context before making a decision on the report as it may affect the outcome.

Group Size

Groups with the intention to commit crime, violence, intimidate others or respond to any of these actions whether they are law, criminal or civilian, are limited to 6 members and are considered an active outfit.

Groups with no intention to perform these actions are free to meet in groups of any size.

Should an unplanned violent altercation occur between groups, the group size rule does not apply. Should 6 people from one group ignite a fight with 9 in another group, there is no expectation for 3 of the 9 to vacate.

Should a group or gang decide to attack a law office of any given town or city, the law stationed there do not have to adhere to the group size rule and can defend themselves without vacating to an even number.

Should groups wish to plan large scale scenarios that fall outside of the rules, a ticket detailing the event must reach staff via the Rosalita Staff bot.

Injury & Death

Community members whose characters take any kind of damage are expected to roleplay possible injuries. For example, if your character falls off their horse and hits the ground hard, it's expected that you assign them a small injury. This could be as simple as a bruised elbow or a gash to their face. Adding depth to the actions your character endures benefits roleplay for yourself and others.

Characters who are injured in a fight using weapons, such as guns or knives, are expected to come away with serious injuries. Being shot should lead to an injury that requires medical attention, similarly a stab wound should lead to the same thing. Quality medical roleplay is integral to our server, community members whose characters are injured should maintain their high standard of roleplay even through adversity.

Downed

Whilst in the downed state you are expected to roleplay your injuries through voice or through /me, depending on what injury you are roleplaying. For example, perhaps you are bleeding out. You could still be conscious and be voicing your concern for your health, your pain and mental state. If you are unconscious you are expected to roleplay out your injuries with /me in order to show those around who are roleplaying with you to know what has happened/is happening to you.

Death can occur through choice or by damage from another player using a weapon. If a community member's character is downed, they can choose to kill their character using /pk to permanently kill their character. This character can no longer be revived and is considered dead. The community member can still use /me to communicate injuries or behaviours surrounding their character's body.

Forced Harm

Players are not permitted to force other players to roleplay an unconscious state, force injury upon them or force them to permanently kill their characters. The injury and state of the character affected is entirely up to the player controlling said character.

Torture

Performing torture or permanently mutilating another character is only permitted when the player has consented via OOC means.

Criminal Rules

Criminal Gangs

Criminal gangs are limited to 12 total members.

Conflict

The initiation of conflict with another player or group must be clear and the involved party must be given ample time to understand and respond to before any PvP occurs.

The aim of conflict must always be to further the storylines of those involved. Initiating conflict with the sole purpose of 'winning' without any roleplay or story driven reason would be considered low quality roleplay.

Conflict should be allowed to have a natural end. Staff may intervene if players continue conflict for reasons that don't make sense, such as out of character reasons.

Gangs can pursue conflict with other gangs, so long as active situations don't break the Group Size rule. Smaller gangs can request help from other characters, so long as the total number of characters involved doesn't exceed the gang size cap of 12.

Gangs that number 12, or smaller gangs that come together to total 12, cannot work with other gangs to target one gang. Whilst having allies is permitted, working with them to bombard a singular gang is considered unfair and exceeds our gang size cap.

Gangs with more than 6 members in character at one time can split up into two or more smaller outfits. These smaller outfits cannot commit major crimes, such as heists, at the same time or have them overlapping with one another.

Hostages

Hostages must not be friends with the hostage takers or willing participants in a scenario, both in character and out of character.

Hostages must value their own lives and roleplay appropriate fear.

Prison

Escaping from prison is limited to one attempt for the duration of the prisoner's sentence. This applies to when the prisoner is held in town cells, held in prison or when being transported to prison from town cells.

If a prisoner is being held in the town cells awaiting transport, the allowed attempt is spent if an escape is attempted whilst the prisoner is in the cells and escape should not be attempted further during transport should the first attempt in the cells fail.

Miscellaneous

Lasso & Hogtied

The lasso is an item that is easily abused due to how they natively work. The lasso should only be thrown to apprehend someone if all other options have been exhausted. Catching up to and tackling to capture is always preferred.

When hogtied, it is expected that the player values the life of their character. The victim is permitted to wriggle free if it makes sense to do so, such as the captor leaving them unattended.
