Rules and Values

Terms of Service

• We are an inclusive community. Abuse of any kind towards another community member will not be tolerated, including but not limited to: racism, homophobia, transphobia, and general bullying.
• The Rosalita lore makes adjustments to real world history, altering events such as the American Civil War and the Indian Removal Act. Failure to roleplay according to our lore will not be tolerated. See the Rosalita Lore page for details.

Community Rules

• You must be at least 18 years old to be eligible for a community whitelist.
• Rosalita is an English speaking server. Characters of different nationalities may speak in other languages, but the primary language must be English. Non-verbal characters must be discussed with staff first via a Discord ticket.
• A high quality microphone is required. Staff may reject your application based on microphone quality.
• The following are strictly prohibited and will result in serious action: erotic roleplay, suicide/self-harm roleplay, pregnancy/child roleplay, non-consensual/forced relationship roleplay, and distasteful or graphic content.
• Abuse of bugs, exploits, or glitches is prohibited. Third party programs (menus, crosshairs, scripts) will result in serious action with no opportunity for appeal.
• Supernatural roleplay is not permitted. Characters may believe in such things, but supernatural events cannot occur.
• Serial killer roleplay is prohibited unless pre-approved by staff.

Staff, Bans and Appeals

• The Rosalita Staff Team creates, maintains, and develops an enjoyable roleplay experience. Staff offer guidance and support both technically and for roleplay, and issue disciplinary actions via the Rosalita Staff Bot.
• Player reports are handled through our bot. Each report is discussed internally and all decisions are voted on to maintain fairness, considering both the rules and roleplay context.
• Staff involved in reported scenarios are removed from discussion and voting. Staff connected to reported parties are treated the same way.
• All actions taken against a reported party are final. Bans can be appealed after 30 days via our appeals section.
• Staff are required to keep all ticket and ban information confidential, unless otherwise stated by the ticket maker.
• Staff may address the community regarding repeated issues or inform of possible harm caused by a banned party.
• Discussing bans publicly in the community Discord will result in further action.

Server Rules

Character

• All characters are considered "fresh." Rosalita has no affiliation with other RP servers. Mentioning other "states" is not permitted.
• Characters may know each other from before, but backstories must be believable and not reference other servers.
• Your characters cannot know or be related to one another. Other community members can play your character's relations.
• Creating a new character related to an older character to continue storylines is prohibited.
• All characters must be at least 18 years of age.
• Characters must be unique. Inspiration from existing media or history is allowed, but directly copying names or replicating characters is not tolerated.

Out of Character

• You must stay in character at all times on the server.
• There is no permitted method of OOC communication in game. All OOC communication must occur via Discord.
• The in-game chat function is only for roleplay actions such as /me.

Scenes

• Scenes add depth to areas via descriptions. Use them for evidence of crime, signs of altercation, or clues.
• Scenes can only describe the immediate area. Prohibited uses include: property damage, direct communication to characters, and unperceivable details.

Value of Life

• You must value your character's life at all times. Characters under threat must react realistically.
• Repeatedly portraying a character incapable of fear will result in action.
• Causing another character's death is serious and could result in your character's life imprisonment or death penalty.
• Acknowledge the weight of your actions—consequences may come back to your character.

Low Quality Roleplay

• We expect a high standard of roleplay. Failure to maintain it will result in staff action.
• Rosalita is set in 1899. All language, references, music, clothing, naming, and behavior must align with the period. No modern songs, references, terms, or slang.
• Clothing must fit the setting. Avoid: hot pink outfits, broken/clipping clothing, or costume-like animal skins.
• All weapons are deadly. Damage must result in believable consequences requiring medical attention and rest.
• Play or practice violence with deadly weapons is not tolerated.

Rule Play

• Immersive storytelling is our priority. Emphasizing rules over roleplay to "win" on technicalities is low quality roleplay.
• Staff will always require roleplay context before making decisions on reports.

Injury & Death

• Roleplay possible injuries when your character takes damage. Even minor falls should result in small injuries.
• Weapon injuries (guns, knives) require serious injuries needing medical attention.
• Quality medical roleplay is integral. Maintain high standards even through adversity.
• Downed: Use /pk to permanently kill your downed character. The character cannot be revived. Use /me to communicate injuries or body behaviors.

Random Deathmatch

• RDM is performing violent acts without sufficient prior interaction.
• All violence must have reason. Escalation must be believable and fair, giving all parties opportunity to participate.

Conflict

• Conflict initiation must be clear. Give the other party ample time to understand and respond before PvP.
• Conflict must further story. Initiating conflict solely to "win" is low quality roleplay.
• Allow conflict to end naturally. Continuing for OOC reasons will result in staff action.
• Gangs can pursue conflict with other gangs within Group Size rules. Total characters cannot exceed the gang size cap of 12.
• Groups of 12 cannot ally with other gangs to target a single gang.
• Gangs with 6+ members can split into smaller outfits, but cannot commit overlapping major crimes.

Metagaming

• Metagaming is using knowledge learned outside of roleplay (Discord, streams, screenshots, videos).
• Information from one character does not transfer to another without being learned again in-character.

Powergaming

• Powergaming includes: unfair/unrealistic actions, abusing game mechanics, and ignoring roleplay logic to gain advantage.
• Rosalita is collaborative roleplay. Attempting to control others' stories will not be tolerated.

Group Size

• Active outfits (crime, violence, intimidation, or response) are limited to 6 members.
• Non-active groups may meet in any size.
• If unplanned violence occurs with groups larger than 6, members must vacate to maintain fair play.
• Large scale scenarios outside normal rules require a staff ticket via the Rosalita Staff Bot.

Criminal

• Criminal gangs are limited to 12 total members.
• Escape from custody is limited to one attempt per sentence (cells, Sisika, or transport). A failed attempt in cells means no further attempts during transport.
• Hostages cannot be friends with or willing participants of hostage takers (IC or OOC). All parties must value the hostage's life. Hostages must roleplay appropriate fear.
